Here are some of the more significant steps in
building a wooden dory, plus some wonderful scenes of dories launching
from and returning to Cape Kiwanda Beach. Each Learned Dory
is custom built by hand, using plans perfected over three generations,
and incorporating the most modern and innovative techniques to ensure
our customers get exactly the boat they want. |

A boat bottom is cut, sanded and will soon be
attached to the rest of the boat. |

Securing panels on the boat with nails, screws &
specially-blended marine epoxy which actually bonds stronger than the
wood fibers themselves. |

fishing. The 10-ft oars are still standing upright
& the outriggers are in the fishing position. |

escorted by his granddaughter, Kami. They've just returned from a
successful day of crabbing!!! |

Loading a dory onto a "tilt-bed" trailer -
using this type of trailer, dories nearly self-load! |

Anyone for surfing???? |
